Who is Troy?

* Community  Involvement

Troy has supported and coached several youth teams, advocated for improvements to streets and side walks to make traveling easier/safer for seniors and the disabled.  He is a Board Member of Shingle Creek Neighborhood Association, former Co-Chair Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative Family and Community Engagement Committee. 

* Activities in Community School(s)

Troy is Member of Minneapolis Public Schools District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC).  He is Co-Chair of Area A Advisory Council.  Troy is a member of Patrick Henry Site Council.  He is also a Member of MPS Title I Parent Advisory Council.   Troy knows that in order for our children and community to strive we need our educational system to expend all of our resources as required for the benefit of our children.  We need to increase parental and community involvement, awareness and input into the education system.

* Workers’ Support

Workers, union members, community members and the unemployed support, Troy,  a pipefitter, because of his knowledge, fairness and belief in workers rights in our nations.

* Political Knowledge

As a former Director of Minneapolis Democratic Party, Troy worked to inform, include and advocate for residents that have been traditionally disregarded, marginalized or left out of the process.   He has volunteered on campaigns, supported individuals that committed to help our communities, engaged and educated many community members.

* Works with businesses to improve District 58 and our State

Troy, was appointed Chair of the Minneapolis Branch and The MN, ND and SD NAACP Economic Development Committees, because he is committed to improving the economic conditions for all of our residents and business owners.  Troy knows and understands the obstacles business owners are facing in an attempt to be successful in our district.  We must support current and prospective business owners.  Increase the opportunities for all of the businesses to be successful.  Provide new pathways for businesses from communities that have not been able to utilize or get support from the current system(s).

* Residents’ Support

Troy has the support of so many residents because they know Troy and understand that he will do what is best for the community, District 58, City and State.  Troy will not put friends, contributors, special or personal Interest above the interest of the residents of District 58.

 

Troy has previously received endorsements from Stonewall DFL and DFL Latino Caucuses.
